Become an iDEAL Partner
iDEAL is the most widely used online payment method for Dutch consumers! It is a guaranteed, pre-filled transfer from a buyer's IBAN to the beneficiary's IBAN.
To enable an iDEAL payment, iDEAL needs partners, who operate in different roles, see role model below. An iDEAL partner must always be registered as a payment service provider in the register of a European regulator (e.g. De Nederlandsche Bank).
iDEAL has the following roles
Issuers - this is the payment service provider of the payer;
Acquirer - this is the payment service provider of the company (business operator) that offers iDEAL as a means of payment to its customers. An acquirer books iDEAL funds directly to the IBAN of the relevant business;
Collecting Payment Service Provider (CPSP) - this is the company's payment service provider that offers iDEAL as a means of payment to its customers. A CPSP collects iDEAL funds for the company and periodically transfers the iDEAL funds to the IBAN of the relevant company as agreed;
C2C provider - this is the payment service provider that through its C2C service allows a consumer to transfer money to and/or receive money from another consumer. The iDEAL payment is made to (the IBAN of) the C2C provider. The C2C provider transfers the money to the IBAN of the private beneficiary, within the agreed period.
The unique iDEAL features are:
Payment by the buyer via his mobile banking app or online banking environment;
* Real-time payment confirmation and subsequent irrevocable transfer to the beneficiary's IBAN ;
* Suitable for immediate payment and for payment afterwards, via an iDEAL Payment Link or an iDEAL QR Payment Request in an e-mail, SMS or WhatsApp message
* iDEAL QR to initiate payments outside an online environment or have the payment authorised in the bank's mobile banking app
